Whether you sustained your injury playing rugby or going for a little run, ‘sporting injuries’ generally require a level of understand of the activity or sport to ensure your safe return to the sport or exercise that you enjoy the most.
Sports Therapy is similar to physiotherapy that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.
It utilises the principles of sport and exercise sciences incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training, competition and where applicable, work.
Having said that…
A Sports Therapist is not just for sporting injuries or sports people, many similar Musculoskeletal injuries occur in everyday life. They can occur at work (for example; prolonged poor posture in front of a PC or repetitive strain on a building site).
They also commonly occur through DIY, gardening, a fall (accident) or in some cases, just seem to appear out of nowhere due to the stresses and strains of daily living.
What can you expect from your therapy Sessions?
Our aim, from the moment your treatment begins, is to ensure that you begin on a pathway of hands on treatment that is both safe & effective whilst applying the latest methods of evidence based practice.
On your first session, we will take a detailed history of your injury or problem and carry out full assessment of the problematic area and the movements you can perform around that area. This will enable us to gain a clearer understanding as to the source of the problem.
